Project Background
A compound-style residence in Mauritania required 25 kW of off-grid power for air conditioning, refrigeration and household loads in one of the world’s sunniest – and hottest – climates. In 2023 the household replaced a diesel generator that consumed hundreds of litres of fuel every month.
The Challenge
Desert conditions punish solar equipment: 45°C ambient temperatures erode panel output, dust coats arrays, and battery rooms need serious ventilation. Air conditioning runs through the night in hot months, so storage capacity and thermal management were as critical as array size.
Our Solution
We combined a ground-mounted TOPCon array – its -0.30%/K temperature coefficient limits midday losses at extreme temperatures – with high-capacity LiFePO4 storage and three-phase off-grid inverters. The layout allows easy cleaning access for dust removal, and battery ventilation is sized for extreme heat.
