Project Background
A hospital under construction in Congo needed dependable power for lighting, vaccine refrigeration and medical equipment – long before any grid connection would arrive. In 2023 we supplied three independent 5 kW off-grid systems to electrify the facility.
The Challenge
A hospital’s cold chain cannot fail: a single power fault could destroy the vaccine stock. With no grid and unreliable diesel supply chains, the design had to guarantee that no single failure could black out the facility, and local electricians had to be able to install it without specialist solar experience.
Our Solution
We configured three fully independent 5 kW off-grid systems, each with its own panel array, LiFePO4 battery and pure sine wave inverter, and prioritized them by load: one dedicated to the cold chain and laboratory, one to wards and lighting, one to offices and communications. Everything shipped as a container-mixed kit with wiring diagrams, installed by local electricians under our remote guidance.
Results & Benefits
- Full redundancy – a single fault can never black out the whole facility.
- Cold chain secured – the vaccine refrigerator runs through cloudy spells on its dedicated system.
- Independence from grid delays and diesel logistics – the hospital operates entirely on its own power.
- Local installation success – wiring diagrams and remote support let local electricians commission all three systems.
