Project Background
A villa in Sint Maarten with three-phase service needed power it could trust through the island’s frequent grid interruptions. In 2023 we configured a 6 kW hybrid system to run air conditioning, pool equipment and kitchen loads without a flicker.
The Challenge
Island conditions are unforgiving: salt air corrodes ordinary hardware, Caribbean lightning storms threaten electronics, and hurricane season tests every mounting point. The villa’s three-phase supply also ruled out standard single-phase residential hybrids.
Our Solution
We installed a hybrid three-phase solution with panels on the south-facing roof and a LiFePO4 battery bank for seamless backup. All hardware is corrosion-protected for salt air, outdoor electronics are IP65-rated, and surge protection is sized for Caribbean storms. The hybrid inverter switches to battery in milliseconds – invisible to the occupants.
Results & Benefits
- Uninterrupted comfort – air conditioning and pool systems run through every grid interruption.
- Lower imported-energy bills from solar self-consumption year-round.
- Hurricane-season resilience – corrosion-protected, surge-hardened equipment built for island conditions.
- Silent backup – no generator noise, fuel smell or refuelling runs.
