Project Background
An apartment building in St. George’s, Grenada faced some of the Caribbean’s highest electricity prices, costs the owner had no choice but to pass on to tenants. In 2023 we supplied a 60 kW rooftop system to cut the building’s purchased energy.
The Challenge
Grenada sits in the hurricane belt, so the array had to survive extreme winds and salt-laden air. Installation needed to proceed with tenants in place – no power interruptions, no roof access conflicts – and the payback case depended on corrosion-free longevity in a marine environment.
Our Solution
We delivered a 60 kW on-grid rooftop system with on-grid string inverters feeding the building’s common loads and apartments. Modules are clamped to corrosion-resistant aluminium racking rated for extreme wind, and surge-protected DC combiner boxes shield the inverters from lightning-induced spikes. Installation completed in two weeks with all tenants in place.
Results & Benefits
- Utility bills fell sharply, keeping rents competitive while improving the building’s net operating income.
- Hurricane-ready engineering – extreme-wind racking and surge protection sized for the Caribbean climate.
- Zero-disruption installation in two weeks with tenants at home.
- Phase two planned – battery storage to ride through post-storm grid outages.
