Project Background
A manufacturing factory in the Philippines was paying some of Southeast Asia’s highest industrial electricity tariffs while its large metal rooftop sat idle. The owner wanted to cut daytime production costs without interrupting a single shift, and turned the roof into a 400 kW power plant in 2024.
The Challenge
Production runs five to six days a week, so installation had to proceed around live operations. The coastal Philippine climate demanded corrosion-resistant mounting and racking rated for typhoon-season winds, and the economics depended on qualifying for the local net-metering arrangement so weekend surplus would earn export credits instead of going to waste.
Our Solution
We designed a 400 kW on-grid rooftop system built on our N-type TOPCon monocrystalline modules and three-phase string inverters, with anodized aluminium racking matched to the metal roof profile. Our engineers supported the local installer remotely from string design to commissioning, and the array was installed across the roof in three weeks without stopping production.
Results & Benefits
- ~26,048 kWh per month generated, covering the factory’s daytime production load.
- Monthly grid bill reduced to zero for daytime operations under net metering; weekend surplus earns export credits.
- Payback in under four years, with decades of warranted module life ahead.
- Hedge secured against future industrial tariff increases in a volatile energy market.
